The Thurloe Table Lamp is cut from alabaster in two parts that could hardly be less alike. A broad rectangular shade sits square across the top, held at its lower corners by small brass-finish tabs, while beneath it the column tapers outward all the way down to a wide circular foot finished with a fine brass-finish ring. A small brass square set into the front of the column is the only ornament on the piece.
The Thurloe rewards a position where its silhouette can be read straight on. It suits a side table beside a deep armchair, a landing console, a wide desk or the end of a sideboard, and the flat face of the shade makes it particularly good against panelling. Lit, the shade becomes a broad panel of soft light while the column glows more quietly beneath it.
Every lamp is cut from natural stone, so no two are marked quite alike.
